VNHS 2025 Meeting

Location: Averett University, Frith Hall (second floor in the auditorium called Blount Chapel).

Date: 11 October 2025.

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Virginia Natural History Society is pleased to invite you to its annual conference – a full day of exploration, discovery, and discussion about the natural world of Virginia. We welcome researchers, students, educators, and naturalists of all backgrounds to join us for this exciting event.

We are now accepting titles for oral and poster presentations on any aspect of natural history, including the study of plants, animals, and other organisms; the geology of the state; and the natural history of the native people who have inhabited Virginia.

This is the first and only call for titles. Submissions will be accepted until 11:59 EDT, 20 September 2025.

DETAILS FOR ORAL PRESENTATIONS
You will be allotted 12 minutes for the talk, followed by 3 minutes for questions and transition to the next presentation. If the talk itself continues for 15 minutes, no additional time will be available for questions. Please bring your presentation on a USB Flash “thumb” drive. The computer in the session room is a Windows-based PC. Your presentation must be created in, or converted to,  Microsoft’s PowerPoint (.ppt or .pptx) format. PowerPoint files created on Macintosh computers should be previewed on a PC to ensure cross-platform compatibility.

DETAILS FOR POSTERS
There will a dedicated session where authors will have the opportunity to discuss their research with attendees. We will provide easels, display boards, and means of attaching the posters to the boards.
