Jason Gibson is an Associate Professor of Biology at Patrick & Henry Community College. He has been a teacher working with biology students for 30 years. His educational journey includes earning a master’s degree in Environmental Studies from Longwood University, a master’s degree in Biology from Clemson University, and in December 2023, he will complete a master’s degree in Physiology and Pharmacology from the University of Florida. For little over a quarter-century, Jason has had the honor of being a part of the Virginia Herpetological Society. Within this community, he has had the opportunity to serve in various roles, including president, vice president, and currently, as chair of the survey committee. Additionally, Jason has also been a long-time member of the Virginia Natural History Society. Throughout the years, he has contributed manuscripts to Banisteria, participated in VNHS bioblitzes, and served as a manuscript reviewer for Banisteria. He is a research associate for the Virginia Museum of Natural History and has worked for many years supporting the mission of the museum. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles on amphibian and reptile biogeography, ecology, and natural history. Presently, he is engaged in a collaborative effort to co-author a book on the amphibians of Virginia.
